Homes to die for

This is a house I just fell in love with. I found it in the summer issue of swedish Elle Interiör.
It is a summer house in Uruguay and its owner is a restaurateur from Argentina. It's so small, but still has everything a person wants. I hope you can get a feel for it, the picture is quite small.

From the looks of the cover you wouldn't think that this book is covered with beutiful solutions for storage COUNTRY STYLE! But I assure you that the pictures from the solutions inside are really inspirational if you're looking to get that country feel. If you click on the picture Amazon will present a number of used copies for you to buy. In swedish this book is called "Ordning och Reda" and you will find used copies at bokbörsen for between 90-130 kr.

Nacka Byggnadsvård

Taking care of old houses has become big business in Sweden. There are actually a few nice places to go to in order to get what you want for your house. Our house is from 1915 and we really would like to restore many of the typical features of the house. I found some nice things for the bathroom and am very pleased because the prices are 1/4 of the prices found at my favourite store Fired Earth. All pictures are from Nacka Byggnadsvård:

I had such a hard time finding anything remotely fancy for our bathroom. Didn't like a thing I saw. Was really disappointed after a day of searching for the perfect tile. Then I remembered Fired Earth and it all fell into place. I realize the prices are heavy, but for inspiration it is heaven.

I know everyone installs these today, but I like the idea of having one shower head always in one place and the other one all over the place :-)

This is almost what we have today, although ours broke internally. Hope the plumber can fix it.

Just the fact that it has FIRED EARTH engraved like that is reason enough to buy it.

Shower Tray - what do we call this in swedish? It's a great idea to mount a tray instead of tiles. I think it may be more comfortable as well.

I like the blue too, but I've seen an even more intense blue. I'll keep on searching.

More bathroom

I realize that I won't be able to update this blog frequently. I have too much on my mind. I'm a thinker and not a doer at the moment. So, once in a while I'll be here. Until then I'll publish some pictures I've taken while out looking for tiles and furniture for our new bathroom.

Badrum

I might actually try this in english. Because of my headline "Country me Home" I have noticed that a lot of people over seas are finding my blog. So I'll try to do this in english from now on. It won't be easy because there are so many words I don't know in english, but I'll give it a try. 

I took a long break between Christmas and March, but I am back and I'll try writing with regularity. Excuse my english...I know it won't be correct, but I think you will get my point. 

Okay, so now our project with the house is a new bath room on the top floor. Our changing table is going, a shower is coming in and a double sink is on our wish list.

And in swedish: Just nu håller vi på med projekt badrum. Skötbord ska ut, dusch ska in och dubbla handfat ligger högt på önskelistan. Jag vill gärna ha pärlspont och försöker föreställa mig hur pärlspont ska harmoniera med vilken sorts kakel. Jag vill ha vitt men också en annan färg. Det lutar åt grå-grönt för att det ger ett varmt intryck. Här kommer lite bilder på badrum, färger och material:
